RHS Cheerleaders Start Off Strong

The Ringgold High School competition cheerleaders have started off the season winning first place at the Sonoraville competition. They plan on continuing to grow as a team and putting in more difficulty, especially for region and state. One of the best parts of this year’s routine is the pyramid and the dance! Coach Fleming says, “The pyramid is our ‘money-maker.’ We have a chance to score huge points in that section.”

Senior and captain, Janna Perpinan says that the best part about competing is the feeling of accomplishment when you finished and stayed strong as a team and as student-athletes. “One thing that has defined us this season is having so much difficulty already in the routine. In the past, we have not been as strong as a team this early in the season.”

Competition cheerleading is not an easy sport and requires lots of practice. The RHS squad has always had to overcome injuries, typically four or five during the season. Mainly because of the wear and tear it puts on your body from throwing and catching people in stunts to tumbling. If you are interested in seeing what competition cheerleading is really about, come to RHS on Saturday, September 22nd for the fourth annual Tiger Cheer Classic.  The high school division begins at 9:00 a.m.
