RHS Cheer Team Ready to Compete Contributed by Harper Haupt   Saturday, September 14, 2019, kicks off the official start of the 2019-2020 competition cheer season.  The team will compete at Pepperell High School for their season-opener. The RHS cheer squad is coming off a successful 2018 season where they finished with a school-record 3rd place in the State Competition, and they are ready to place even higher this season. Junior Sydney Logan and Seniors Mary-Kate Bullock and Maggie Crew sat down with me to talk about their upcoming season and what they think about it.

Sydney Logan says she is excited for the season to begin because, “I think everyone is very motivated. We want to be State Champions this year, and we know that is a feasible goal.”  The team is comprised of 4 freshman, 4 sophomores, 5 juniors and 8 seniors. This group of athletes cheers on Friday night for football and also competes.

Mary Kate, a four year Varsity team member, says she is sad to see the end of her high school cheerleading career. She also says that “having a good attitude and being positive” are very important for the seniors so that "we can set an example for the rest of the team."

Maggie Crew says that “no negativity, being accountable for yourself, and having a common goal” are important qualities for cheerleaders to have. Also, getting to bond with the team this year is a goal she has for this season.

The cheerleading team is going to do great things this season and best wishes to them.
