Cooper Sexton, Coach Hensley, Coach Stockburger, and Baileigh Pitts

Congratulations to our student-athletes of the month for January: Baileigh Pitts and Cooper Sexton.

Baileigh is a senior who plays softball and basketball. She says she began playing softball when she was young because her parents played in a local adult league. “I was always the ball field rat who wanted to play with my parents during their games, and from there it kind of took off. Now with basketball, I started playing because some of my closest softball friends played and I wanted to see what it was all about,” said Baileigh. She will be attending Georgia Southern University in the fall on a softball scholarship, and she plans to earn a degree in mechanical engineering. When asked who has impacted her the most, Baileigh said, “I would definitely have to say Tori Clemmons has impacted me the most. She has helped me through mental blocks that I thought would never go away. In addition, she's shaped me into the basketball player I am today, teaching me endless post moves, basketball tips, and more. She really is a best friend to me and always knows how to hype me up for a game or make me smile.”

Cooper Sexton is a senior on the RHS basketball team who says that he began playing because it was a sport his mom grew up playing. “She got me to try basketball, and I love it now,” he said.  Cooper plans to attend college, become a physical therapist, and start his own company. Cooper says that Mrs. Holcombe is the teacher who has impacted him the most during his time at RHS. “She is just an amazing teacher and role model who is always trying to help students. She just wants the best for all of her students,” he explained.

Congratulations to both of these outstanding students!
