Congratulations to Maclaine Donovan and Cade Tankersley, this month’s student-athletes for May!

Maclaine is a junior on the Varsity golf team. “My dad and grandpa introduced me to the sport in about 6th grade, and I fell in love with everything about the game. I think my favorite thing about this sport is that I cannot beat it. It is the only sport that requires 90% mental game and 10% skill (in my opinion). The other thing I love about golf is that it has given me life long friends that I will have forever.” Maclaine says golf is a great way to “get away from the craziness of everything and have fun. You laugh, you hit good shots, you hit bad shots, and you do not stress.” Maclaine says she recognizes that being able to play this sport is a gift, and that, “ I play golf because I want to show everyone just how amazing our God is.”  Maclaine is hoping to play college golf, and is unsure about a definite career.  “ I do know that I want to serve people, everyday, in my job. I absolutely love kids and communicating with people. Building relationships with the people around me is crucial! I also cannot wait to start a family and become a mom! But again, it's not my plan. It is God's plan and I am letting Him take control.” she says. When asked who has impacted her academically at RHS, Maclaine said, “The teachers at RHS truly care about you. They care about your grades, but they also care about how you are doing throughout your life. It would be wrong of me to pick just one teacher so I will recognize all of them! Thank you Mrs. Fleming, Mr.Smith, Mr.Sharrock, Mr. Moore, Mr. Lancaster, Mr.Hackett, Mrs. Rittgers, Coach Coode, Mr.Johnson, online teachers, parapros, janitors, lunch ladies, assistant principals, Mr.Jones, and anyone else who makes RHS such an incredible place! Thank you to all the teachers who taught me so well and truly poured their hearts out every single day to make me love coming to school!”

Cade Tankersley is a member of the Varsity baseball team. He says, “My father grew up playing this sport, and I wanted to follow in my father's footsteps. Everyone in my family played a sport including my grandfather who was a division 1 athlete as well as my uncle who was a division 2 football player. I expect to be the next family member on that list!” Cade says he plans to attend college to major in Kinesiology. “Later down the road, I would like to start a family and own a big house on our farmland.” When asked who has impacted him the most academically, Cade said, “Coach Walker has impacted me most academically because he pushed me to be a better person on and off the baseball field. As well as Coach Walker, Mr. Johnson impacted my academics by not only caring about our grades, but as well as our well-being.”
